The bags are opened in a bag opener using two sets of knives. The first set of knives is located on the rotor and is powered by an electric motor that can change the speed of rotation. The second set of knives, the so-called the comb is fixed and attached to the back of the machine. All knives are attached with screws, which enables their easy maintenance and replacement.

In order to protect the bag opener from overloading, the machine has a built-in spring-hydraulic system that opens and lets waste through if the force on it rises above a critical value. After the excess material falls out of the machine, the system is automatically closed by means of a spring and the device continues with normal operation. This ensures safe and permanent operation of the device.

Since dust particles that pollute the air are released when the bags are opened, there is a ventilation port on the top of the machine that connects the bag opener to the suction filter station where the polluted air is filtered.
